Glamour Portrait Session: Mady

Portraits

Mady is a smart, fun-loving, humorous, and warm-hearted woman. I have the privilege of being counted among her friends.

This past Saturday I got to photograph her – you may remember she was the winner of the glamour session. My favorite makeup artist, Kiara, drove 30 mins from where she lives to come do Mady’s hair and makeup. (She also did the makeup for Samantha and Hadli.)

We spent nearly the whole day together, talking and laughing.  I could tell Mady was nervous, but also very excited; I was feeling the same way.  My ultimate goal for when I do these shoots is for the women I photograph to be able to see how beautiful they really are, and to capture their inner beauty as well as the outer.

Mady shared her experience of the day on her blog, here.

Here are some of the images I captured of my beautiful friend.

Kimberly and the Dress of Awesome

Artistic, Miscellaneous, Portraits, Proofs

Can I just say…this is one of the most fun shoots I’ve ever had the privilege of doing.  This girl is a positively brilliant seamstress, among other things, so if you need any custom sewing done let me know and I’ll put you in touch with her.

She’s also a total natural in front of the camera.

(She “blames” that on watching “too much” America’s Next Top Model…lol)

The rest of the images from Kimberly’s session can be found here.

2013 52 Week Challenge: Week 8

Miscellaneous

I am getting behind – I know.  Class is keeping me pretty busy, not to mention the daily antics of my energetic 2 year old 🙂

This image is not one that I created in one day.  It represents the culmination of around 5 weeks worth of learning and work.  The assignment was to create an image that represents, to me, what our world would look like without natural resources.

Here is the result.

Glamour Portrait Session: Samantha

Portraits

My friend Samantha is such a strong & independent woman.  She’s vibrant, she’s smart, she’s funny, and I love her laugh.  She’s pretty busy with full-time school & work, so I am grateful to her for her time this past weekend.  After Sue Bryce’s most recent CreativeLIVE workshop, I knew that glamour photography was what I wanted to do with my career as a photographer, and I knew that I wanted Samantha to help me start out on that path.

We snapped this picture just before we went into the salon – with my cell phone since I’d forgotten to bring my real camera.

Our stylist Kiara did a wonderful job bringing out Samantha’s natural beauty.  Samantha said she felt like a million bucks – and doesn’t she just look it, too?

Thank you, Samantha, for trusting in me.

Senior Portrait Session: Tess

Portraits

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Rexburg.  I got to spend time with a beautiful, sunny girl named Tess, and take her Senior portraits.  We shot them in The Gardens on the campus of BYU-Idaho, which gave us a chance to try a variety of poses against a variety of backgrounds.  But Tess looks great doing just about anything, as you can see.

We had a lot of fun. Tess thinks she doesn’t have a great smile, but she totally does.

You are drop dead gorgeous, girl!  I can’t wait to shoot you again!

Kirksey Wedding – March 10, 2012

Weddings

This weekend I had the privilege of shooting my aunt’s wedding. They generously paid for my flight down to San Antonio (I live in SE Idaho) and let me stay with them. The wedding was Saturday March 10th, a gray and gloomy day outside. But inside, the warmth and the love made everything bright.

Thank you, Will & Rebecca, for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day.

Aubrey & Her Guitar

Portraits

I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar.

But shooting someone playing it, well, that’s almost the next best thing.

I don’t know if you can tell from the photos, but it was COLD…and while it looks romantic to have her hair blowing in the wind, it only made it COLDER!

Look at this gorgeous grin – she was definitely a trooper.

We found this little spot that was a bit more out of the wind, but her fingers and mine were quickly becoming uncomfortably stiff.

So we headed over to a little coffee shop I know, where I snapped this one – definitely one of my favorites from the entire session.

I think she looks like a goddess.

Thanks, Aubrey, for letting me practice my portrait skills with you!
